Chocolate Toffee Matzah Crack(ers)

Happy almost Passover everyone! Yeah, you read that title right! You may be wondering why i'm posting a dessert with the word 'crack' in the title. But it is OH-SO-APPROPRIATE in this case. The 'crack' can refer to the cracker texture of this delicious snack, or to the addictive nature of it. I'll let you choose!

With the holiday of Passover rapidly approaching, I feel like we all try and think of creative and inventive recipes to make that everyone will enjoy! I have to admit, this is not one of my favorite holidays and it's probably because i'm a major foodie and don't like being restricted in what I eat! With all the hours of cooking and baking we do to impress family and guests, this easy recipe is probably going to be your most popular (and easiest)!

Last Passover I saw different versions of Matzah Crack online, and immediately got caught up in the trend. Who doesn't love a cracker covered in chocolate, toffee and nuts!? Once trying this, I understood why it's called 'crack.' The stuff is LITERALLY addicting! With the holiday starting tomorrow, I highly recommend you making a large batch of this recipe and sharing the addiction! Happy eating!

Prep time: 10 minutes

Total time: 25+45 minutes of chilling

Ingredients

4 sheets of matzah

1 cup margarine/butter

1 cup brown sugar

1 cup chocolate chips

Pinch of salt

Slivered almonds*

Directions

1.Preheat oven to 375 degrees, and place matzah on baking sheet. You can break the pieces to fit if necessary

2. In a pot on medium heat, add the butter/margarine and the brown sugar. Allow the two to melt and for the sugar to dissolve. Add a pinch of salt

3. Stir the mixture continuously until bubbling and thick. Immediately pour over the matzah (mixture is VERY hot!) and spread into an even layer. Place the pan in the oven for 10 minutes or until the toffee is bubbling

4. One done, remove the pan from the oven and sprinkle chocolate chips on top of the toffee, allow chocolate to warm up for about 2 minutes before spreading on top of the toffee

5. Sprinkle almonds on top, and place in the fridge to harden. Once finished, cut or break the matzah crack into pieces, and enjoy!

*I used almonds for this recipe, but you can use pecans, marshmallows, or any other desired topping!
