Double Chocolate M&M Cookies

Have no fear everyone, I have your new cookie jar favorite right here! Check out these DELICIOUS Double Chocolate M&M Cookies! It’s no secret how much I love baking for family and friends, and this recipe came with no exception. When i’m experimenting and trying to think of new recipes, I love having the ability to be creative in what I make to match a specific occasion, event, mood etc.

Recently, my husband I were discussing someone in our lives who we felt was in need of a treat. Everyone deserves to be appreciated once in a while, and we wanted to show that, as well as thank them for what they’ve done for us. I decided that I wanted to bake up a batch of cookies that would hopefully put a smile on this persons face, as well as brighten up their day. When trying to think of a dessert that would do this, these Double Chocolate M&M Cookies came to life in my head!

Aside from being a fun and colorful cookie, this recipe has a chocolate richness that will have you begging for more. The crunch from the candy coating on the M&M’s adds a nice texture that cuts through the soft and mushy center of these cookies. Head into that kitchen and try it out. You won’t regret it!

Prep Time: 10 minutes

Total time: 2 hours (includes chilling time)

Yields: 20 cookies

Ingredients

½ cup butter or margarine; room temperature

¾ cup brown sugar

¼ cup granulated sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla

1 egg; room temperature

1 cup flour

½ cup+ 2 tablespoon cocoa powder

1 teaspoon baking soda

¼ teaspoon salt

2 tablespoons milk

¼ Mini M&Ms +more for dotting cookies

¼ Chocolate chips+more for dotting cookies

Directions

1. In a stand mixer beat your butter and sugars until light in color and fluffy.

2. Scrape down the sides of the bowl and add your egg and vanilla, beat until incorporated

3. In a separate bowl mix together your flour, cocoa powder, baking soda and salt. Begin to add into the mixer ¼ cup at a time. After adding about half a cup, add in your first tablespoon of milk. Continue with the rest of the dry mixture, and then with your last tablespoon of milk

4. Fold in your M&M’s and chocolate chips. Dough will be wet and sticky, so take your bowl and place it in the fridge for 2 hours*

5. While cookies are chilling, line a cookie sheet with parchment paper, and preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Once cookies have chilled, use a cookie scoop or 2 tablespoons of dough and place on baking sheets. Dot the top of your raw cookie dough with extra M&M's and chocolate chips. Bake for 12 minutes and enjoy!**

*Chilling the dough is mandatory for this recipe! Without, your cookies will spread and won’t keep their shape

** Cookies will appear slightly under baked, but take out and let them cool for them to finish coming together!
