Happy Teacher Appreciation Day everyone! Today is the day when we get to celebrate all those hard working teachers out there! Teachers are there to give their students a boost when they need it, extra help when they have trouble, and are a constant presence when everything seems out of control and wrong. They display love, patience, and dedication on a daily basis to ensure their students feel safe and successful. I think it's safe to say that teachers have a lot of responsibility and go above and beyond what their contract asks of them. So when you see a teacher today make sure to give them high five and thank them!
Being a teacher myself, I enjoy celebrating along with the other hard working educators out there. Since I tend to celebrate through baked goods, I figured dessert was necessary, right? As we all know, giving an apple to your teacher is a timeless act which is meant to show appreciation. I put together this Individual Apple Crisp instead of having a classic plain apple to celebrate the day with a delicious treat. Also, who doesn't love individually portioned desserts?! So teachers, head home and throw together this easy and delicious treat for yourself! You deserve it after that long hard day in the classroom!
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Total Time: 8 minutes
Yields: 1 individual crisp
Ingredients
1 apple chopped
½ teaspoon cinnamon (divided)
1 ½ teaspoon honey
2 tablespoon oats
1 ½ tablespoon butter (melted)
1 tablespoon chopped pecans
1 tablespoon flour
1 teaspoon brown sugar
Pinch of salt
Directions
1.Roughly chop your apple, and place in a bowl with ¼ teaspoon cinnamon, and honey. Mix together and place in your ramekin bowl.
2. In a separate bowl make the crumble by adding oats, the rest of the cinnamon, melted butter, pecans, flour, brown sugar and salt. Mix together until all incorporated and resembles a crumble.*
3.Sprinkle the crumble on top of the apples and place in the microwave for 3 ½ minutes. Once finished, allow to cool for about 2 minutes before enjoying!**
*if the crumble mixture seems too wet, add a bit more flour
** Add ice cream or whipped cream to make this even more delicious!
